This site invites you to select a cartoon character and then learn how to draw it. The instructions demonstrate how to combine a series of simple lines to create a final picture. This site contains Google ads on each page, which are not selected by the host of the site and may not be appropriate for your child.

Each lesson on this site offers an image of the work being studied, a brief summary about the artist and/or the work, a worksheet and a page that can be colored by your student. However, the site offers photographic images of many artifacts and works of art from all over the world. If you are looking for a particular style of artifact, you might wish to check this site. The site also offers a collection of music. The music and images are available for purchase.
Museum Kids
This site, sponsored by the Metropolitan Museum of Art, offers a wide variety of online activities designed to engage children in the appreciation and understanding of art. Answers to kids' questions, interactive activities and a timeline of art history are just a few of the features available at this site.
National Gallery of Art Loans
The NGA’s Division of Education provides teaching materials (DVDs, CD ROMs, Videocassettes, etc.) free of charge to individuals and organizations within the United States. Simply make a request for materials at least 1 month in advance. You will be responsible for return media mail postage. A catalogue of available materials can be requested via the website or viewed online.
National Gallery- NGA Kids
At this site your child can create interactive art in the art zone. The site allows the student to explore various forms of art by interacting with the works of various artists. You can also download a special children’s guide for the Gallery’s permanent and special collections. Online tours are also available.

This website (which does have pop-ups and Yahoo ads) has a list of about 19 links to Oragami cartoons, games, instructions, printables, quizes, even math lessons and more.
Smithsonian Institution National Gallery- Online Exhibition
View some of our nation's treasured artwork online. The site offers information about each period or theme as well as a downloadable teacher's guide.
The Artist’s Toolkit
Learn about the various elements of art from lines to movement and rhythm. Each segment of the toolkit allows the viewer to watch a demonstration, see examples of the technique in various works of art and create his or her own composition. Make sure your volume is turned down a bit before opening up any of the lessons- they do make some noise.

Several songs can be listened to using the midi format and a few are available in mp3 format as well.
